2020 has been a roller coaster for sure. COVID-19 has made our life’s moments look very different.
High school seniors know this all too well.
Kennedy is one of the hardest working dancers I know. I had the pleasure of being her dance teacher for over 10 years at Encore Dance Centre in San Dimas, CA. Even at the age of seven she was a focused and determined student.
Being accepted to LACHSA, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, moved Kennedy one step closer to her dreams of pursuing a professional dance and musical theatre career. As her senior year started I know she couldn’t get to graduation fast enough as she had her sights set on attending Boston Conservatory at Berklee to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre.
When graduation was cancelled because of the global pandemic and stay at home protocols, I know Kennedy was disappointed that she would not be able to put the final punctuation on her high school experience. She was disheartened, but reserved to just move on to the next exciting chapter.
As Los Angeles started to open back up a little bit Kennedy’s mom contacted me to see if we could do a photoshoot to celebrate this important milestone. I happily put on my mask and my long lens so we could be properly socially distanced for the session and we headed out to honor this important milestone.
Kennedy has been in font of my camera many times. It’s always a joy to work with her. She brings that solid work ethic and the willingness to try things to everything she does, and a photoshoot is no exception. We knew that we couldn’t just do grad photos, but that we should make it a full DANCER session. She donned a beautiful flowy skirt and a vibrant blue two piece from Lululemon to move in. I think it was the perfect way to honor all of her hard work.
